Before a truck tows regularly, the basics deserve more than a quick glance. Brakes, tires, driveline parts, fluids, suspension, and warning lights all matter more when the vehicle is carrying or pulling weight.

Start with stopping and traction

Brake pads, rotors, fluid condition, tire tread, tire pressure, and load rating all affect confidence with a trailer attached. A soft pedal, vibration while braking, uneven tire wear, or old tires should be inspected before hauling.

Check for vibration, clunks, and leaks

U-joints, driveshafts, differential leaks, transmission behavior, suspension movement, and tire balance can all show up more clearly under load. Small symptoms are easier to address before the truck is far from home.
